Directions for Use
Huitian® 917 is suitable for assembly and bonding of windshield glass of engineering machinery cabs, cars, ships, etc., as well as bonding and sealing of some metal structural parts.
Before using the product, it is necessary to read the Material Safety Data Sheet for information on precautions and safety recommendations. Before using 917 on materials prone to stress cracking, please consult with the material supplier and perform substrate testing for verification; 917 is intended for experienced and professional users only. Tests must be conducted with actual substrates and application conditions before using the product, so as to ensure good adhesion to and compatibility with the material.
Directions for Curing
Huitian® 917 is a moisture-curing one-component polyurethane adhesive. Changes in temperature and humidity will affect its curing rate; the lower the temperature, the slower its curing rate.
Application Method
Surface Treatment
The substrate to be bonded must be dry and free of oil, dust, grease, and other contaminants. Thoroughly clean the new glass and body paint coat with 8902, and check whether the bonding material is intact and free of any damage. If new or changed substrates are involved, please contact Huitian for verification to ensure reliable bonding.
Primer Application
Apply primer to the cleaned substrate surface with a primer applicator. Start gluing after the primer evaporates and dries. Before application, a primer agent suitable for the actual substrate and application conditions should be selected according to Huitian's primer program. Then apply the primer according to the primer application requirements.
Gluing
It is recommended to glue with equipment (such as pneumatic and electric glue guns or equipment with pumps). In order to ensure a uniform thickness of the bonding layer, it is recommended to form a triangular adhesive shape (as shown in Figure 2).
The optimal operating environment conditions are temperature 20~30°C, 50%~70%RH; note that the viscosity of the product will increase at low temperatures. The open time will be significantly shortened under high temperatures and high humidity; if the glue is already tack-free, please do not conduct assembly and bonding.
During gluing and curing, avoid contact with chemicals containing hydroxyl groups, amino groups, etc., which can cause polyurethane adhesive to not cure or incompletely cure.
Storage
The unused adhesive should be immediately sealed for storage. When used again, if there is a small amount of crust on the seal, just remove it, which will not affect the normal use of the product. During storage, a small amount of crust may appear at the opening, which can be removed for normal use and will not affect the performance of the product.
Cleaning and Removal
Uncured 917 can be cleaned and removed with special cleaners or other suitable solvents and tools of Huitian. Once cured, it can only be removed mechanically. If the skin on, for example, hands is contaminated, clean up immediately with a towel dipped in ethanol or a suitable industrial hand sanitizer. To avoid burns, do not use solvents on the skin.
Storage & Transportation
Recommended transportation environment | Optimal environment: 5~25°C, <70%RH; avoid sunshine, rain, humidity, impact, and extrusion of packing. |
Recommended storage temperature | 5~25°C |
Storage environment | Cool, dry |
Shelf life | 9 months |
If the storage environment temperature is exceeded, there may be a risk of shortened shelf life. (Shelf life is less than 9 months at a storage temperature of 25~35°C, and less than 6 months at a storage temperature of 35~40°C)
Packing Specification
300 ml/cartridge; 400 ml/cartridge
Cautions
Keep away from children for storage.
If the eyes are accidentally exposed to the product, rinse immediately with water, and seek medical attention.
It is recommended to use the product in a well-ventilated place.
Please consult the MSDS of the product for safety information.
Waste Disposal
If not polluted by other substances, the waste can be stacked in landfills in principle and will not pollute water quality. Since the product can be burned, the waste can be disposed of in a waste incineration plant. Undoubtedly, it is necessary to abide by the environmental regulations of the local government.
